Job summary

The Podiatrist in the Podiatry Section of Surgical Care at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS) reports to the Chief of Podiatry. The physician provides medical and surgical services to eligible veterans and administers the Podiatry section.

Responsibilities include clinical duties in podiatric surgery, patient evaluation across multiple settings, supervision of trainees, and on-call coverage while promoting foot health and preventing complications from systemic diseases.

Responsibilities

• Perform operations that require a Podiatric surgeon (clinical duties).
• Evaluate patients in the Podiatry clinic, emergency room, ICU, OR, and inpatient services.
• Supervise medical students, residents, and fellows in clinics, wards, and OR.
• Provide on-call coverage per schedule.
• Promote foot health education to prevent deformity and complications.
• Assess limb loss risk and participate in amputation prevention with interdisciplinary teams.
• Prescribe prosthetic aids and devices as needed.
• Interact with prosthetics and other care professionals for amputee care.
