As a member of the interdisciplinary primary care team the Podiatrist will evaluate, diagnose, treat, and triage foot and ankle conditions, perform minor procedures, counsel patients on foot care, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Elicits and records information about patient’s health history.
  • Conducts comprehensive examinations of patient’s feet and ankles.
  • Orders necessary tests to aid in diagnosis and treatment of foot and ankle conditions.
  • Diagnose and develop treatment plans for a variety of foot and ankle conditions.
  • Perform minor procedures such as wound care, nail trimming, and callus removal.
  • Provide or advise patients non-surgical and surgical treatments for foot and ankle conditions.
  • Prescribe medications and orthotics as needed.
  • Advise patients on foot care, hygiene, and preventative measures.
  • Educate patients about their conditions, treatment options, and potential risks and benefits.
  • Provide instructions for managing conditions and promoting foot health.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals and specialists to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and detailed electronic health records.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families.
  • Adhere to clinic policies and procedures.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and initiatives.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the mission of Squirrel Hill Health Center.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Unrestricted license to practice podiatry in Pennsylvania.
  • Pennsylvania DEA registration.
  • Participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs or willingness to participate.
  • Enrollment in required managed care and insurance contracts or willingness to enroll.
  • Demonstrated sound problem-solving and decision-making ability.
  • Demonstrated skill in planning and organizing work, managing time, and meeting commitments.
  • Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal skills to interact in sensitive and/or complex situations with a variety of people, expertise with multicultural populations.
  • Demonstrated very high level of communication skills to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Computer skills, EMR experience.
  • BLS certified.
  • Dedication to providing high quality health care to all patients.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
  • Willingness to receive and remain current with all CDC recommended vaccines required.
