Job summary

NBCNews Studios is seeking an experienced contract Audio & Mix Engineer to support audio-first podcast programming, primarily for the daily Here’s The Scoop show, with duties spanning recording, editing, and mixing across studio and remote environments.

The role is a Monday–Friday, full-time daily, hybrid position requiring four days onsite at NBC’s 30 Rock location, with potential for five days onsite as needed. Duration around 24 months unless deliverables change.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional podcast experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience.
• Expert knowledge of Pro Tools.
• Experience with Riverside, Descript, and remote recording workflows.
• Strong understanding of signal flow, microphone techniques, and audio troubleshooting.
• Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to confidently guide guests through technical setup and troubleshooting in a calm, professional manner.
• Experience supporting video podcast productions strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engineer in-studio and remote podcast recording sessions.
• Prepare studios, microphones, routing, monitoring, and talkback systems.
• Record and manage multitrack audio assets.
• Edit, clean, and mix podcast episodes in Pro Tools.
• Collaborate with producers, editors, and talent to meet editorial and delivery deadlines.
• Troubleshoot audio and technical issues during live and recorded sessions.
• Support video podcast workflows, including synchronization and delivery of audio assets.
• Maintain consistent loudness, quality control, and delivery standards.
