Job summary

The Atlantic seeks a driven associate audio engineer for its podcast team in Washington, DC. The role involves mixing, mastering, and repairing audio for video and audio podcasts, coordinating with hosts, producers, and editors to ensure high-quality sound.

Night, early-morning, and weekend work may be required; Sundays to Thursdays are possible. The position is Guild-based and based in Washington, D.C., with a focus on delivering studio-grade content and seamless production workflows.

Qualifications

• Mastery of ProTools, Izotope, Audio Hijack and related podcast software.
• Experience with video editors, AAF workflows, and Adobe Premiere.
• Experience with Riverside.fm, Comrex and other remote recording platforms.
• Knowledge of Dropbox and file sharing platforms.
• Fluent understanding of remote filing and recording.

Responsibilities

• Mix and master audio for video and audio podcasts.
• Collaborate with producers to score episodes and integrate music.
• Deliver files meeting platform specifications and incorporate edits/feedback.
• Assist with in-studio, remote, and field recording as needed.
• Maintain the podcast studio and promote best practices.
• Troubleshoot technical issues with team and writers/editors.
