Job summary

The Atlantic seeks an associate audio engineer to support a growing podcast team. You will collaborate with hosts, producers, editors, and engineers to deliver high-quality audio for podcast and video content.

The role requires flexibility for night, early-morning, and weekend work and may follow a Sunday-Thursday schedule. You will mix, master, and repair audio, help score episodes, integrate music and sound design, and ensure delivery of polished files across platforms.

Qualifications

  • Mastery of ProTools, Izotope, Audio Hijack and other podcast production software
  • Experience with video editors, AAF workflows, and Adobe Premiere
  • Experience with Riverside.fm, Comrex and other remote recording platforms
  • Knowledge of Dropbox and other file sharing platforms; strong remote filing and recording
  • Excellent at meeting deadlines and working independently

Responsibilities

  • Mix and master and repair audio for video and audio podcasts
  • Work with producers to score episodes
  • Integrate music and sound design, incl. intro/outro music
  • Deliver files to meet platform specs; prepare/clean up audio assets
  • Assist with recording in-studio, remotely, and in the field as needed
  • Maintain podcast studio and implement best practices
  • Troubleshoot technical issues with team; assist writers/editors with home-recording setups
  • Archive published episodes and files
