Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health's Monmouth Medical Center seeks a Medical Technologist – Point of Care to coordinate and oversee the POC testing program across Monmouth campuses and affiliated locations. This bench role combines technical testing with day-to-day quality oversight under the POC Supervisor.

The candidate will ensure regulatory compliance, perform POCT according to CAP/CLIA guidance, train staff, monitor QC trends, and participate in audits and device maintenance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field required.
• ASCP or equivalent certification as a Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical laboratory experience; experience in POCT preferred.
• Strong knowledge of CAP, CLIA, and Joint Commission requirements for POCT.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform and validate point-of-care testing POCT in accordance with hospital policies, manufacturer guidelines, and CAP and CLIA regulations.
• Serve as a key liaison for POC operations across all supported areas including inpatient units, ambulatory care, and satellite offices.
• Provide technical bench coverage as needed at both Monmouth and Monmouth South laboratories.
• Support the POC Supervisor in monitoring QC trends, corrective actions, and maintaining regulatory documentation.
• Assist in coordinating competency assessments, new test implementation, and staff training for nursing and ancillary personnel performing POCT.
