Job summary

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) is hiring a PMTS Silicon Design Engineer to execute RTL development for processor core pipelines and related logic.

You will collaborate with hardware and software teams to define high-level architecture and contribute to microarchitecture development for next-generation high-performance cores. Responsibilities include design verification, synthesis, power reduction, timing convergence, and floorplanning; travel is not required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field.
• Five (5) years of experience in job offered or related role; alternative: Bachelor's + seven (7) years progressive experience.

Responsibilities

• Execute RTL design and coding for sections of the processor core pipeline and related logic.
• Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to define high-level architecture.
• Participate in microarchitecture definition for next-generation high-performance cores.

Job Role and Responsibility

AMD, Inc., is hiring PMTS Silicon Design Engineer to Execute on RTL design and coding for various sections of the processor core pipeline and related logic. Collaborate with a team of hardware and software engineers to define the high-level architecture. Participate in the definition of microarchitecture of next-generation high-performance processor cores. Contribute to design verification, synthesis, power reduction, timing convergence, and floorplan efforts.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required

Five (5) years of experience in job offered or in a closely related engineering or engineering manager role.

Alternate combination of education and experience

Employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field and seven (7) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or in a closely related engineering or engineering manager role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required

Position requires five (5) years of experience in the following:

• Verilog RTL development with industry tools in a CPU, SOC, or ASIC environment;
• Processor architecture;
• Logic design;
• RTL coding experience for a high-speed processor;
• Power-saving techniques;
• Physical design and verification methods;
• Synthesis, place and route, and timing closure concepts;
• Development experience from clean-sheet design to product tapeout to post-silicon debug
• Microarchitecture development;
• Problem-solving and debugging skills
• ASIC implementation with synthesis flow and static timing analysis;
• Microprocessor Design-for-Test (DFT) and Design-for-Debug (DFD) logic and issues;
• Clocking, reset, power-up sequences and power management; and
• Scripting with Perl, Shell, or Tcl.
