Job summary

AMD, Inc. is recruiting a PMTS Silicon Design Engineer to execute RTL design and coding for core pipeline components.

You will collaborate with hardware and software engineers to define high-level architecture and contribute to microarchitecture of next-generation high-performance processor cores. The role requires five years of related experience or a seven-year flexible path, a Master’s degree or equivalent, and strong Verilog RTL and DSP-style design expertise.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field.
• Five (5) years of experience in job offered or closely related role.
• Alternately, Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer/Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field and seven (7) years progressive post-baccalaureate experience.
• Five (5) years of experience in Verilog RTL development, CPU/SOC/ASIC environments.
• Experience with processor architecture, logic design, RTL coding, power-saving techniques, physical design and verification, and timing closure.

Responsibilities

• Execute RTL design and coding for various sections of the processor core pipeline and related logic.
• Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to define high-level architecture.
• Define microarchitecture for next-generation high-performance processor cores.
• Contribute to design verification, synthesis, power reduction, timing convergence, and floorplan efforts.

Participate in the definition of microarchitecture of next-generation high-performance processor cores. Contribute to design verification, synthesis, power reduction, timing convergence, and floorplan efforts.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required:

Five (5) years of experience in job offered or in a closely related engineering or engineering manager role.

Alternate combination of education and experience:

Employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field and seven (7) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or in a closely related engineering or engineering manager role.

Specific skills required:

Position requires five (5) years of experience in the following:

• Verilog RTL development with industry tools in a CPU, SOC, or ASIC environment;
• Processor architecture;
• Logic design;
• RTL coding experience for a high-speed processor;
• Power-saving techniques;
• Physical design and verification methods;
• Synthesis, place and route, and timing closure concepts;
• Development experience from clean-sheet design to product tapeout to post-silicon debug
• Microarchitecture development;
• Problem-solving and debugging skills
• ASIC implementation with synthesis flow and static timing analysis;
• Microprocessor Design-for-Test (DFT) and Design-for-Debug (DFD) logic and issues;
• Clocking, reset, power-up sequences and power management; and
• Scripting with Perl, Shell, or Tcl.
