Job summary

Project Farma seeks an accomplished PMO leader to define and drive the strategic vision for the Project Management Practice. You will oversee governance, standardization, and service offerings across complex, regulated programs, ensuring execution excellence and leadership development.

You will mentor teams, manage client relationships, and lead high-stakes initiatives with executive sponsorship, while traveling as needed for client assignments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Life Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • PMP certification or MEM is required.
  • Minimum 20+ years of progressive experience leading complex projects, programs, or portfolios.
  • Experience in life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, or related regulated industries.
  • Experience building, growing, and managing a consulting practice, technical service line, or PMO.
  • Experience establishing, leading, and/or scaling enterprise-level PMOs.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; visa sponsorship not provided.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the strategic vision, growth roadmap, and operating model for Project Farma’s Project Management Practice and PMO.
  • Establish and continuously improve project management methodologies, governance frameworks, standards, tools, and best practices.
  • Lead practice planning, service offering development, capability expansion, and innovation initiatives.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality execution across the project portfolio, including planning, delivery, reporting, and quality management.
  • Oversee project performance, resource utilization, and delivery outcomes with Regional VPs.
  • Serve as executive escalation point for strategic, complex, or at-risk projects.
  • Act as trusted advisor to client executives and lead governance oversight and strategic guidance.
  • Lead executive stakeholder interactions, steering committees, project launches, and critical delivery interventions.
  • Establish portfolio governance, performance metrics, dashboards, forecasting, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Drive visibility, risk management, resource planning, and delivery consistency.
  • Lead project reviews, lessons learned, PMO maturity initiatives, and continuous improvement.
  • Attract, mentor, develop, and retain project management professionals and future leaders.
  • Build succession plans, training programs, and career development pathways.
  • Partner with Client Engagement and Business Development teams on strategic pursuits, proposals, account growth, and market expansion.
  • Develop thought leadership, represent Project Farma in industry forums, and build strategic external partnerships.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to evolve service offerings.
  • Remain actively engaged in client delivery through direct project leadership, executive client engagement, project launches, and strategic delivery oversight.
  • Travel domestically as required for client project assignments.

Job description

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Life Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience in capital project engineering, pharma cGMP facility start-up, CapEx/OpEx project management, and/or comparable military experience
  • PMP certification or Master’s of Engineering Management (MEM) is required
  • Minimum 20+ years of progressive experience leading complex projects, programs, or portfolios
  • Experience primarily within life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, advanced manufacturing, or related regulated industries
  • Experience building, growing, and managing a consulting practice, technical service line, or project management function
  • Experience establishing, leading, and/or scaling enterprise-level PMOs
  • Deep experience managing large-scale, multi-disciplinary programs and portfolios, including capital projects, facility expansions, manufacturing operations, technology implementations, process improvements, and client transformation initiatives
  • Ability to translate market trends, client needs, and business objectives into actionable strategies and service offerings
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing project managers, consultants, and future leaders
  • Experience supporting proposal development, strategic pursuits, client relationship management, account expansion, complex sales, and RFP processes
  • Willingness to travel as required for client project assignments

  • Preferred: PgMP, PMI-ACP, Lean Six Sigma, Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or other relevant project/program management certifications
  • Professional certifications related to life sciences manufacturing, capital project delivery, or operational excellence are a plus
