Job description

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a PMO Leader to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Wiremold Team in West Hartford, CT. The PMO Leader is responsible for establishing and driving best-in-class program and project management practices across the organization, with a focus on New Product Development (NPD) for the Wiring and Cable Management (WCM) business. This role ensures alignment between business strategy, product development, and operational execution by implementing standardized processes, tools, and governance for ideation, portfolio management, engineering project management, and post-launch performance. The PMO Leader will oversee the full NPD project portfolio, manage a team of project managers, and act as Program Manager for large strategic initiatives.

What Will You Do?
Ideation & Governance
  • Lead the aggregation and disposition process for business-wide idea submissions in partnership with Engineering and Product Management.
  • Ensure ideas are allocated across organic, inorganic, and partnership pathways; manage initial steps in each process.
  • Evolve and maintain standardized project management processes (Stage-Gate, ISO9001, Agile Methodology).
  • Govern processes for project intake, prioritization, approval, and stage reviews.
  • Drive the lean annual budgeting process for product development spend, serving as the central source for prioritization and project sizing to maintain a multi-year view of investments.
  • Oversee the full NPD project portfolio, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Maintain a live, standardized multi-year prioritization list of all potential product projects as guided by Product Management.
  • Track and report portfolio performance metrics, including schedule, costs, and risks.
  • Act as Program Manager for large strategic projects.
  • Maintain an active list of project timelines in a standardized format; manage escalation of blockers and major timeline changes.
  • Highlight resource gaps or underutilization and support load balancing in partnership with Engineering leadership.
  • Develop and evolve standard time estimates for recurring tasks and project types based on historical trends.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, and software engineering, technology partners, application/certification testing, manufacturing, quality, and marketing.
Operational Handoff & Post-Launch
  • Ensure WPDS (Worldwide Product Development System) deliverables and requirements are complete and standardized across all manufacturing partners.
  • Establish and manage a standardized process for testing new product performance against targets at defined intervals.
  • Define standard audiences for performance reviews and implement a “get-well” process with tracking and visibility for gaps.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as the central point of communication for project status across departments and leadership.
  • Facilitate stage-gate reviews and ensure consistent reporting on process health and KPIs, including vitality metrics and engineering efficiency.
  • Capture and share Legrand-wide best practices within PMO and related functions.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Build and improve PMO organizational structure, job descriptions, and hiring triggers.
  • Streamline WPDS processes and engineering time-tracking tools.
  • Evaluate and implement tools (e.g., SmartSheets, Microsoft Project) to support PMO operations.
  • Provide calendar management support for WCMLT and track leadership task lists between monthly check-ins.
Required Skills
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or equivalent technical field.
  • PMP or similar certification preferred.
  • Specific experience may serve to offset education.
Experience
  • 10+ years managing new product development projects.
  • 8+ years in program/project management within a manufacturing or B2B environment.
  • 5+ years in Electrical Manufacturing or related industry.
  • 3+ years of people management (project managers).
  • Proven ability to implement governance frameworks and drive cross-functional alignment.
  • Strategic Thinking, Process Excellence, Stakeholder Engagement, Leadership and Team Development, Change Management.
  • Experience with product lifecycle from concept to launch to end-of-life.
  • Experience integrating Agile practices into traditional Stage-Gate NPD processes.
  • Familiarity with Eco-Design processes and ISO9001.
  • Broad understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Highly collaborative, fostering trust and open communication across teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effective listener.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, or similar software.
  • Ability to travel internationally and domestically approximately 10–15%.
Position Expectations
  • WPDS improvement and streamlining.
  • Develop and deploy basic project management tools (e.g., SmartSheets); leverage best practices from other businesses.
  • Deploy tools to enable project tracking across KPIs and roll out engineering hourly tracking mechanisms.
  • Build project management processes with first two strategic projects actively managed.
  • Support and create WCMLT processes and sharing tools; facilitate annual calendars.
