Job description

The North America Cross Car Line organization is currently seeking a dedicated Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) Specialist Quality Engineer to ensure the quality of supplied components and materials, driving continuous improvement within our supply chain. You will act as a Quality methodology Subject Matter Expert (SME). Specialist guides new products from the drawing board to mass production. They ensure products meet customer requirements, prevent manufacturing defects, and achieve a smooth launch. Specialists use standardized methods to identify risks, track project timelines, and ensure all quality goals are successfully met. a solutions-oriented Project Quality Manager Specialist to join the Top Hat, Platform and Modules team at the Stellantis US Headquarters and Technology Center in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The Quality Specialist is responsible for developing and executing standardization of manufacturing quality enablers. The Engineer will have experience in managing cross-functionally and possess a broad knowledge of the entire automotive engineering, manufacturing and quality landscape and present outstanding teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills. The candidate must be a high-energy, hands-on individual with strength of conviction - a self-confident leader who, in part due to his/her personal presence, style and demeanor, effectively sells ideas and solutions to others. Moreover, this person must have unquestioned integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities with suppliers, encompassing all five phases: Plan and Define Program, Product Design and Development, Process Design and Development, Product and Process Validation, and Feedback, Assessment & Corrective Action.
  • Conduct supplier assessments and audits to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for the APQP Stellantis process implementation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, sourcing, and manufacturing teams to define and improve supplier quality processes.
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics and implement improvement plans.
  • Support new product introductions by ensuring supplier readiness and component quality.
  • Travel approximately 60% of the time to supplier sites, primarily within Europe but occasionally further, for onsite engagement and support.
The Engineer's responsibilities include but are not limited to:

performing root cause analysis of quality issues, often using advanced problem-solving tools (Kepner-Tregoe, Shainin Red X, Design of Experiments, etc.) recommending and implement cost-effective permanent corrective actions. The Engineer will analyze quality data from internal and external indicators, manage engineering changes working with a cross-functional team to ensure timely execution. The Engineer will conduct product evaluation tests to ensure robustness of product or process change before full implementation and will be the point of contact for engineering quality and all product-related incidents.

The Engineer will ensure delivery of third-party quality metrics, provide creative thinking to the analysis of data and the identification of new opportunities. The Engineer must have a proven track record of developing and executing standardization and experience with having cross-functional responsibilities in a lean organization. The Engineer will plan, prioritize, set goals and manage multiple projects in a technical and business environment. The Engineer must have strong communication skills to support meetings at all levels of the company, including senior leadership. The Engineer will establish partnerships both internally and externally should be able to influence without direct authority. The Project Quality Manager Specialist must show commitment and dedication in delivering a premier product to the consumer, represent the Voice of the Customer to the platform teams and contribute or drive team success by clarifying expectation and minimizing political hurdles. The Project Quality Manager Specialist will demonstrate unwavering commitment to delivering results and champion achievements and exhibit a willingness to do things differently and consistently translate ideas into actions that deliver results.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field
