Now hiring a PMG Surgery Scheduler-Orthopedic

Surgery scheduling and coordination are critical components of patient care. It is a complex process of coordinating patients' personal schedules and needs, surgeons' schedules, access to hospital facilities and insurance authorizations. Must have strong communication skills to coordinate with clinic, surgeon, OR, ASC and outside personnel to ensure case accuracy from creation to completion.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with providers, patients, and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Manage complex provider schedules including OR schedules, ASC schedules and clinic schedules.
  • Accuracy in scheduling is paramount in performance
  • Ability to schedule complex surgical procedures (et. al. total joint replacement, complex cardio-thoracic procedures, robotic cases, minimally invasive, gynecologic oncology and breast oncology, etc.)
  • Ensure prior authorizations/certifications/referrals are in place PRIOR to procedure
  • Responsible for collaborating all preoperative studies such as labs, diagnostic studies, physician consults, and clearances for upcoming surgeries and procedures.
  • Based on surgeon instruction, determine personnel/equipment required and coordinate with OR / ASC staff.
  • Must be highly skilled in verbal communication, problem solving, prioritization and organization.
  • The Surgery Scheduler schedules all surgical procedures and assures that all the appropriate clinical and insurance coding information is collected for the surgery.
  • Coordinate post-operative follow-up needs within the office. Maintain the daily, weekly, and monthly surgery schedules.
  • Manages the issues encountered when daily operational changes take place (add-ons, delays, emergencies, cancellations, etc)
  • Able to communicate with patients through various methods (in person, over the phone, MyChart, with the use of an interpreter, etc)
  • Assist clinical leadership with provider issues
  • Serve as liaison between site staff and department for functions related to role such as provider staffing
  • Assist in the creation of provider schedules in a computerized staffing system.
  • Assists leadership with operational and standardization efforts as needed
  • Assists in the creation and management of provider Epic templates
  • Demonstrates CARES behaviors of Collaborate, be Accountable, Respect, Engage and Serve to all whom you encounter.
  • Must make daily decisions independently.
  • Other support tasks as assigned; may include facilitating meetings, ordering supplies, and coordinating service requests
  • All other duties as assigned
