Job summary

AdventHealth in Wesley Chapel, Florida, is seeking an EMS transport provider to identify and intervene for patients during transport, delivering direct medical care under established EMS protocols. The role involves airway management, ventilator support, and administration of medications while documenting care and educating families.

PRN shifts are available in a daytime schedule. The ideal candidate holds an Associate degree (preferred) with BLS/ACLS/PALS and PARA licensure, CDL or DL, and

• Experience with charting software and medical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Identifies, intervenes, and stabilizes patients during transport under the medical director.
• Provides direct medical care to patients during transport per EMS protocols.
• Establishes and manages advanced airways as approved by EMS protocols.
• Manages ventilators and LVAD/IABP during transport.
• Administers medications and infusions per protocol.
• Performs required procedures per EMS protocols.
• Monitors and records patient conditions and treatments.
• Educates patients and families about illnesses and interventions.

Job Description

• Identifies, intervenes, and stabilizes patients during transport under the direction of the medical director and EMS protocols.
• Provides direct medical care to patients during transport consistent with established EMS medical protocols and guidelines.
• Establishes and manages advanced airways via intubation, Laryngeal mask airway (LMA), and/or cricothyrotomy as approved by EMS medical protocols.
• Manages ventilators, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), and Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD) during transport.
• Administers approved medications and narcotics consistent with EMS medical protocols.
• Infuses blood products consistent with EMS medical protocols.
• Performs all required procedures consistent with EMS medical protocols.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient conditions and treatments as appropriate.
• Educates patients and family members about patient illnesses and clinical interventions.
• Inspects and maintains equipment to ensure the safety of transport team members, patients, and the public.
• Completes and submits patient care reports (ePCR) in charting software consistent with state requirements.
• Operates emergency vehicles safely in various weather and emergent conditions, communicating delays and updates to dispatch, and reporting any vehicle issues to the supervisor.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Ability to determine the nature of patient conditions and assess whether patients have pre-existing medical conditions [Required]
• Ability to identify and treat life threatening conditions within the paramedic's field of practice [Required]
• Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required]
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]

Education

• Associate [Preferred]

Work Experience

• 1+ experience emergency vehicle operations [Preferred]
• Ambulance transport experience [Preferred]

Licenses And Certifications

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Required]
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS) [Required]
• Licensed Paramedic (PARA) [Required]
• Commercial Drivers License (CDL) [Required] OR Driver's License (DL) [Required]
• Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) [Preferred] OR Commercial Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) [Preferred]
