Job summary

AdventHealth in Wesley Chapel, FL is seeking a Night Shift Paramedic to transport and provide direct medical care to patients under EMS protocols. You will establish advanced airways, manage ventilators, and monitor patient conditions while coordinating with the medical director during transport.

Ideal candidates hold a Paramedic license with BLS/ACLS/PALS, CDL or DL, and have 1+ year EMS transport experience.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and speak conversational English.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• EMS knowledge preferred

Responsibilities

• Identifies, intervenes, and stabilizes patients during transport under the direction of EMS protocols.
• Provides direct medical care to patients during transport per EMS guidelines.
• Establishes advanced airways as approved by EMS protocols.
• Manages ventilators, LVADs, and related devices during transport.
• Monitors and documents patient conditions and treatments; completes ePCR reports.

Job Description:

• Identifies, intervenes, and stabilizes patients during transport under the direction of the medical director and EMS protocols.
• Provides direct medical care to patients during transport consistent with established EMS medical protocols and guidelines.
• Establishes and manages advanced airways via intubation, Laryngeal mask airway (LMA), and/or cricothyrotomy as approved by EMS medical protocols.
• Manages ventilators, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), and Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD) during transport.
• Administers approved medications and narcotics consistent with EMS medical protocols.
• Infuses blood products consistent with EMS medical protocols.
• Performs all required procedures consistent with EMS medical protocols.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient conditions and treatments as appropriate.
• Educates patients and family members about patient illnesses and clinical interventions.
• Inspects and maintains equipment to ensure the safety of transport team members, patients, and the public.
• Completes and submits patient care reports (ePCR) in charting software consistent with state requirements.
• Operates emergency vehicles safely in various weather and emergent conditions, communicating delays and updates to dispatch, and reporting any vehicle issues to the supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to determine the nature of patient conditions and assess whether patients have pre-existing medical conditions [Required]
• Ability to identify and treat life threatening conditions within the paramedic's field of practice [Required]
• Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required]
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]

Education:

• Associate [Preferred]

Work Experience:

• 1+ experience emergency vehicle operations [Preferred]
• Ambulance transport experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Required]
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS) [Required]
• Licensed Paramedic (PARA) [Required]
• Commercial Drivers License (CDL) [Required] OR
• Driver's License (DL) [Required]
• Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) [Required] OR
• Commercial Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) [Required]

Pay Range:

$21.77 - $40.48
