Job summary

Daily's Premium Meats in South Salt Lake, UT, is seeking a Shipping/Receiving Crew member responsible for loading/unloading trucks, palletizing, scanning orders, and maintaining accurate inventories. You will follow GMPs, safety policies, and carry out daily tasks to support the shipping department.

The role requires attention to detail, English communication, forklift/equipment familiarity, and the ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Palletize and organize loads for shipment with correct stacking.
• Prepare paperwork: bills of lading and invoices.
• Ensure trucks are loaded in correct order for LTL transit.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and assist in periodic inventories.
• Operate handheld scanners for inventory reporting and recordkeeping.
• Follow GMPs, safety guidelines, and attendance rules.
• Support daily department needs and related duties as required.

Job description

Summary

Shipping/Receiving Crew responsibilities include but are not limited to loading & unloading trucks, storing materials, picking, palletizing, and scanning orders. Provides day-to-day assistance to Supervisor/Management. Responsible for understanding Daily’s GMP’s and safety policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Palletize and organize loads for shipment using correct stacking order. Ensure accuracy of each pallet and entire load
• Prepare and complete all necessary paperwork including bills of lading and invoices
• Ensure trucks are loaded in correct order for LTL transit, first stop loaded last, etc.
• Responsible for large quantities of product. Must be always honest and ethical to avoid unnecessary losses
• Assist in weekly, monthly, and year-end inventories and maintains accurate counts
• Rotates to related duties within the Shipping department
• Keep warehouse area clean and well organized.
• Uses wireless handheld scanner for accurate inventory reporting and recordkeeping
• Follow procedures outlined by Department Supervisor/Department Lead
• Follow Daily’s attendance and punctuality rules
• Follow Daily’s Good Manufacturing Processes
• Follow Daily’s Safety Guidelines as outlined in Safety Handbook
• Performs other related responsibilities, as needed, to support Daily’s business objectives

Education, Experience, Skills

• Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
• Must be computer literate and able to learn new computer programs quickly
• Ability to conduct inventories correctly
• Knowledge of warehouse operations and loading/unloading of trucks
• Know proper and common procedures for loading trucks
• Advanced skills with forklifts and electric pallet jacks preferred
• Ability to read, write and speak English is vital to allow communication with drivers, customers, and shipping companies
• Strong communication skills and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
• Basic math skills including ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Capability of working with and calculating percentages

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must be able to lift and carry at least up to 50 pounds consistently
• Standing and walking for up to 10 hours a day on concrete and wet surfaces
• Visual abilities required for this job include close and distance vision
• Must be able to wear all assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) for the position while working

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Temperature variations – average of 40 degrees. Exposure to noise above 85 dbl (hearing protection required). Must be able to work in cold temperatures for extended periods of time, including in freezers and coolers.

WORK SCHEDULE

The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Must be able and willing to work varying hours and overtime due to operational requirements.
