Job summary

Heritage Oaks Hospital in Sacramento, part of the UHS family, is seeking an Assessment & Referral Registered Nurse (RN) to join the admissions team. The RN ensures that the admission process is carried out per nursing standards, hospital policy, and mental health practices, and manages admissions in a timely and courteous manner.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of two years' experience as an RN in a psychiatric health care facility preferred.
• Currently licensed to practice by the State Board of Nursing.
• Must pass a medication administration exam; CPR certification required; complete hospital training in de-escalation and restraints.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and documents the direct and comprehensive assessments required for patients to determine dispositions.
• Participate in screening patients for admission into hospital programs, utilizing pre-approved admissions criteria.
• Reviews referrals and determines appropriateness for patient admission criteria with assistance of policy and procedures.
