Portola Hotel & Spa in Monterey, CA seeks a Security Officer (Part Time) to ensure guest and staff safety and protect hotel property. The role involves monitoring property, responding to emergencies, and enforcing safety protocols with a strong customer service orientation.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or equivalent and CPR/First-Aid certification within 6 months. Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide outstanding customer experience to guests and staff.
• Respond to medical emergencies with appropriate first aid per training.
• Patrol hotel buildings and grounds day or night, supervised or unsupervised.
• Enforce policies and report safety violations to OSHA department as needed.
• Document security incidents and medical responses in written reports.
• Respond to emergencies and alarms; coordinate with police, fire and EMS as needed.
• Perform dispatch for aquarium operations: monitor radios, cameras, and access controls.
• Assist with security logs, radio/keys, and lost and found inventory.
• Support other departments as directed by Security Supervisors.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Security Officer is responsible for the safety and well-being of guests, employees, and hotel property. Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure work environment by following standards and procedures. The Security shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times.

THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS OF THIS JOB ARE:

• Provide an outstanding customer experience to internal and external customers.
• Respond to medical emergencies on hotel property, providing an appropriate level of first aid care within scope of medical training.
• Patrol all buildings and grounds of hotel property, day or night supervised or unsupervised.
• Enforce company policies, report potential building fire and safety code violations to the OSHA safety department as appropriate for follow-up and reinforcement of training and compliance standards.
• Document in a written report any security related incidents, or medical responses occurring at or related to the hotel property.
• Respond to emergencies and alarms on hotel property, providing security assistance and crowd control in accordance with department policies, coordinating response of police, fire and emergency medical services as needed.
• Perform dispatch functions for aquarium, to include monitoring and dispatching radio calls, monitoring surveillance cameras and access control doors and gates.
• Respond to any incident involving guests, visitors, and/or employees.
• Assist in maintaining daily security logs, key and radio control forms, vehicle logs and the lost and found program as directed by Security Supervisors.
• Assist other departments with operational and special needs as directed by Security Supervisors.
• Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the security function and reporting duties.
• Conduct opening and closing of hotel employee and public areas for normal business hours and special events.
• Provide cash escorts and maintain crowd control when required.
• Respond to calls for lost or found children and provide safety and security for those individuals until reunited with adult chaperons or parents.
• Conduct personal bag inspections for employees and/or guests entering the hotel property as scheduled or directed.

QualificationsEDUCATIONAL / CERTIFICATION / LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

• Proficiency in using various computer software programs and general office equipment
• Detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCED REQUIRED:

Minimum 6-months customer service experience required; hospitality experience preferred.
