Job summary

The Founders Inn & Spa, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, located in Virginia Beach, is seeking dependable PM Line Cooks to join The Swan Terrace Restaurant team. You will prepare hot and cold items, maintain high standards of quality, presentation, and food safety, and work as part of a strong culinary team.

We offer full-time and part-time positions with PM/evening shifts; weekend and holiday availability is required. Benefits and employee meals are included where eligible.

Qualifications

• Previous line cook or culinary experience; at least one year preferred.
• Demonstrates passion for food quality and attention to detail.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Dependable, organized, professional, and team-oriented.
• Understand basic food-safety and sanitation practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare hot and cold menu items according to standardized recipes and presentation standards.
• Wash, peel, chop, dice, slice, portion, and prepare vegetables, meats, seafood, cheeses, sauces, and other ingredients.
• Prepare entrées, appetizers, salads, sauces, side dishes, garnishes, and other menu items.
• Taste and inspect food to ensure flavor, texture, temperature, and quality.
• Maintain clean, organized, sanitary workstation and proper storage/rotation of items.
• Follow all food-safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.

We are seeking dependable, skilled, and hospitality-focused PM Line Cooks to join the Culinary team at The Swan Terrace Restaurant, located inside The Founders Inn & Spa.

What You'll Do

As a PM Line Cook, you will prepare and execute hot and cold menu items while maintaining our standards for quality, consistency, presentation, sanitation, and food safety.

Responsibilities include:

• Prepare hot and cold menu items according to standardized recipes and established presentation standards.
• Wash, peel, chop, dice, slice, portion, and prepare vegetables, fruits, meats, seafood, cheeses, sauces, and other ingredients.
• Prepare entrées, appetizers, salads, sauces, side dishes, garnishes, and other menu items.
• Taste and inspect food throughout the shift to ensure proper flavor, texture, temperature, quality, and consistency.
• Ensure all food served to guests is properly prepared, presented, and meets established quality standards.
• Maintain proper food storage, labeling, dating, rotation, and temperature-control procedures.
• Complete required preparation for the current and following shifts.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation.
• Properly clean and care for kitchen equipment, utensils, tools, and preparation areas.
• Follow all food-safety, sanitation, personal hygiene, and uniform standards.
• Monitor product usage and demonstrate awareness of food costs and waste.
• Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to leadership.
• Assist other Culinary team members as needed to support efficient restaurant operations.

What We're Looking For

Successful candidates should:

• Have previous line cook, restaurant, or culinary experience; at least one year is preferred.
• Demonstrate a passion for food quality and attention to detail.
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Be dependable, organized, professional, and team-oriented.
• Understand basic food-safety and sanitation practices.
• Be able to safely operate and clean commercial kitchen equipment, including grills, flat tops, fryers, broilers, ovens, steamers, slicers, mixers, food processors, and other applicable equipment.
• Be able to stand for extended periods and perform the physical requirements of a commercial kitchen position.
• Be available to work PM/evening shifts, weekends, and holidays. Weekend and holiday availability is required.
