You will also conduct technical skill evaluations for new hires and internal promotions, helping ensure that our field talent is placed confidently and successfully on projects.

  • Deliver in-person, hands-on plumbing technical training to apprentices, field employees, and office employees (primarily in our training facilities and occasionally on active job sites).
  • Teach Power Design Plumbing Best Practices, installation standards, safety expectations, and field procedures.
  • Conduct technical evaluations for new hires and internal promotion candidates to assess skill level and field readiness.
  • Mentor apprentices throughout their development, including classroom instruction, lab-based learning, and coaching.
  • Design, develop, and maintain training content, lesson plans, job aids, and assessments that align with project requirements and evolving mechanical codes.
  • Partner with subject matter experts and field leaders to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with apprenticeship partners and industry organizations (e.g., ABC, NCCER chapters, or similar plumbing trade programs).
  • Represent Power Design in the community by supporting trade advocacy, recruiting, and workforce development initiatives.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

  • Supervisory experience in managing and mentoring crews preferred
  • Knowledge of plumbing systems and installation practices is a plus.
  • Passion for teaching and the ability to break down complex technical concepts into practical, clear instructions.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills; comfortable speaking to groups and coaching one-on-one.
  • Excellent organization and planning abilities with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Experience training others (classroom or hands-on) preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to occasionally adjust work hours to support training needs.
