Job summary

ColonialWebb is hiring experienced commercial Plumber Mechanics in Charlottesville to support growth on commercial construction projects, retrofits, and installations. The role involves assembling, installing, and repairing domestic water and drainage systems, with a focus on safety and code compliance.

We value trade school completion and IPC knowledge, with preference for Journeyman/Master licenses. A company vehicle, competitive pay, and strong benefits are part of the package as you advance

Qualifications

• Journeyman or Master license preferred.
• Experience with domestic water systems and plumbing codes.
• IPC knowledge and safety regulations.
• Trade school completion preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of domestic water and drainage systems.
• Cut and thread pipe using required tools (pipe cutters, saws, torch, threading machine).
• Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and metal or plastic pipes.
• Join pipes using screws, fittings, solder, brazing, or solvent methods.
• Assist with sheet metal products and ductwork on commercial projects.

A Day In The Life

• Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of domestic water, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes
• Cut and thread pipe, using necessary tools (i.e., pipe cutters, port-a-band saw, reciprocating saw, torch, pipe-threading machine)
• Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals such as iron, steel, brass, and copper, and nonmetals such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic, using hand tools and power tools
• Join pipes by use of proper supplies (i.e., screws, fittings, solder, brazing, grooving, plastic solvent)
• Assist with sheet metal products and ductwork for commercial projects as well as assist with any other tasks needed to complete the project

You Should Have

• Journeymen or Master’s license (preferred, but not required)
• Backflow License (preferred, but not required)
• Med-Gas Certification (preferred, but not required)
• Completion of applicable trade school (preferred, but not required)
• Experience with layouts
• Knowledge of International Plumbing Code (IPC) and general safety regulations
