About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Project Manager / Estimator to join our commercial construction team. This position offers the opportunity to combine commercial plumbing estimating, project management, and customer relationship development in a key role supporting company growth.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in commercial plumbing construction, significant field experience, and the ability to take projects from initial estimate through project closeout.
This is approximately a 60% estimating/preconstruction and 40% project management/customer relations role.
What You'll Do
Estimating & Preconstruction
- Review construction drawings, specifications, addenda, and contract documents.
- Perform plumbing quantity takeoffs and labor estimates.
- Obtain and evaluate pricing from vendors and suppliers.
- Prepare accurate, competitive estimates for commercial plumbing projects.
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, job walks, and site visits.
- Develop project budgets and prepare project turnover documentation.
- Assist with contract review and project startup.
Project Management
- Manage commercial plumbing projects from contract award through completion.
- Coordinate with Superintendents, Foremen, and field personnel to ensure successful project execution.
- Monitor schedules, manpower, materials, and procurement.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and project documentation.
- Conduct project meetings and maintain project records.
- Resolve project issues and communicate effectively with customers, contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Ensure projects meet contractual requirements, quality standards, schedules, and customer expectations.
Customer Relations & Business Development
- Build and maintain relationships with General Contractors, Owners, Engineers, Architects, and Developers.
- Identify new commercial plumbing project opportunities.
- Participate in networking and business development activities.
- Develop repeat business through strong customer service and successful project performance.
- Represent the company professionally with customers and industry partners.
Financial & Project Controls
- Conduct monthly job cost reviews.
- Monitor project budgets and identify cost variances.
- Prepare and negotiate change orders.
- Manage purchase orders and vendor/subcontractor agreements.
- Assist with billing and collection issues.
- Support project profitability and overall financial performance.
Field & Team Support
- Provide project direction and support to Superintendents and field personnel.
- Assist with manpower planning and staffing needs.
- Help troubleshoot field issues and develop practical solutions.
- Promote effective communication between office and field operations.
- Support company safety and quality initiatives.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of plumbing construction experience.
- Commercial plumbing construction experience required.
- Significant hands-on field experience.
- Strong knowledge of commercial plumbing systems, installation methods, construction sequencing, and applicable plumbing codes.
- Experience estimating and managing commercial plumbing projects up to $2 million.
- Ability to develop and interpret drawings for design/build projects.
- Strong understanding of construction plans and specifications.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.
Preferred Qualifications
- Journeyman Plumber certification or willingness to obtain.
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Excel.
- Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related degree.
- Additional plumbing or construction industry certifications.

Physical & Travel Requirements
- Regular travel to active commercial construction sites throughout Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.
- Ability to walk active jobsites and navigate uneven terrain.

- Ability to inspect field conditions and interact with field personnel.
