Job summary

Plimpton & Hills Corporation in Hartford, CT is hiring a Counter Sales Associate to help customers, identify parts, and process orders at the plumbing and HVAC counter.

Responsibilities

• Answer questions about product, pricing and availability.
• Maintain up-to-date catalogs and discard expired ones.
• Safely move products of varying weights as needed.
• Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
• Answer telephone calls professionally.
• Input and fill customer orders accurately.
• Read and identify numbers for order filling and receiving.
• Assist warehouse personnel when necessary.
• Maintain a clean and professional work environment.
• Safely operate forklift, pallet jack, etc.
• Stay current on safety practices and standards.
• Perform other duties as directed.

Position Purpose:

As a Counter Sales Associate, you’ll play a key role in creating an outstanding customer experience. You will assist customers with product inquiries, recommend solutions, process orders efficiently, and help drive sales at the counter. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, building relationships, and being part of a collaborative team while maintaining high safety and service standards, this is the role for you. This is a full-time position based at our Hartford, CT branch.

This role supports plumbing and HVAC contractors through parts identification, order processing, and counter assistance.

Essential Functions:

• Actively seek opportunities to help customers.
• Locate and obtain ordered products for customers.
• Assist in the handling of defective parts and warranty information.

• Make sure all product catalogs are up-to-date and that expired ones are discarded.

• Accurately input and fill customer orders.
• Accurately read and identify numbers for accurate order filling and receiving of material.
• Assist warehouse personnel when necessary.
• Maintain a clean and professional work environment.
• Safely operate a forklift, pallet jack, etc.
• Remain up-to-date on all safety practices and standards.
• Perform other responsibilities as directed.
