Job summary

Position Overview

The Plumbing Designer will execute the design of plumbing systems involved in building construction projects. The Plumbing Designer will collaborate with a variety of colleagues across project teams from Engineers and architects.

Essential Job Functions/Duties:
  • Design Building plumbing systems including fire protection for large Buildings and Facilities.
  • Interact with clients, vendors, contractors, architects, and fellow engineers to coordinate designs.
  • Prepare Technical Plans and Specifications supporting your Designs.
  • Review Contractor equipment and materials submittals for accuracy and compliance to the system design.
  • Perform preliminary exploratory site visits to examine existing building systems and determine suitability of system for reuse of alterations and provide due diligence report.
  • Perform construction site visits to review mechanical and plumbing system and component installation and provide written report of findings.
  • Load Calculations to facilitate equip sizing.
  • Develop accurate and precise designs complying with recognized standards, company practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Report to Project Managers and senior management about progress and changes.
  • Interface with Administrative and Support Staff.
  • Marketing through Repeat Business and outreach initiatives.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Comply with the company policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
  • Previous work experience in plumbing design or related position.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Revit, and other computer‑aided design software applications.
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally and orally about highly technical subject matter.
  • Thorough understanding of plumbing systems and component materials.
  • Ability to work extended hours and workdays in a fast‑paced environment to meet deadlines and work demands as needed.
  • Capacity to analyze a problem from multiple perspectives and explore creative solutions.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail with a desire for excellence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Professional attitude and appearance.
  • Valid Drivers' license.

  • Position requires occasional (20%) travel within the local area, traveling to office and business locations to conduct business transactions. This involves exposure to weather conditions, traveling distances to and from buildings, and operating a vehicle.
