Job summary

GEMCO Constructors, LLC in Carmel, Indiana is offering a summer internship in its Indiana Construction department. You will report to a Construction Project Manager with mentorship from the Superintendent, gaining exposure to plumbing on a full project lifecycle.

The role emphasizes plumbing estimation, submittals, field coordination, and site safety, with hands-on learning from early utilities to turnover and billing support.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in construction management, building construction management, construction engineering tech, or a related program.
• Sophomore standing or higher preferred; strong first-year candidates considered.
• Able to work in office and active sites with PPE, on trenches and ladders.
• Developing skills in blueprint reading, construction docs, and material takeoff.

Responsibilities

• Support active commercial plumbing projects including domestic water, sanitary, and fixtures.
• Track submittals, subcontracts, equipment buys, and purchase orders versus schedule.
• Assist estimating with takeoffs and quantity tracking for pipe, fittings, and insulation.
• Coordinate underground and above-ceiling routing with trades.
• Walk sites with foreman and compare installed work to drawings.
• Document hydrostatic tests, inspections, and code requirements.
• Support labor-hour tracking, manpower planning, and monthly billing prep.
• Assist with punch lists, fixture startup, and closeout documentation.
• Follow GEMCO safety expectations on/off site.
