Job summary

Midwestern Mechanical is seeking a Plumbing Apprentice to assist Journeymen in the assembly, installation, and repair of plumbing, water flow, and drainage systems. The role emphasizes safe work practices, learning through apprenticeship training, and progression toward Journeyman status.

The candidate will perform under supervision, handle various pipes (iron, steel, copper, PVC), and participate in on-site tasks at commercial and residential projects.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Field experience in plumbing preferred.
• Knowledge of plumbing systems.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret written materials.
• Basic math skills for measuring and materials calculation.
• Maintain active state/city licenses where work is performed.

Responsibilities

• Perform work under supervision of Journeyman/Foreman; assist in assembly, fabrication, installation, and repair of plumbing, water flow, and drainage systems.
• Follow safety, conduct, and quality policies across sites.
• Work independently with guidance to complete commercial plumbing tasks.
• Repair pipes made of iron, steel, copper, and PVC.
• Inspect equipment and identify causes of errors or defects.
• Operate hand tools and power tools as required.
• Test for leaks in new and repaired systems using air or water.
• Maintain professional relationships with customers and respond to emergencies.
