Job summary

GE Vernova in New York is seeking a skilled journeyman plumber/maintenance technician to install, repair, and test plumbing systems for industrial facilities. Responsibilities include installing pipes, fixtures, and HVAC support, collaborating with contractors, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and building codes.

Ideal candidates hold a plumbing/steamfitter background (NY license preferred) with experience in manufacturing settings, and are comfortable with heights and forklift

Qualifications

• Requires AAS or higher in mechanical or plant utilities technology.
• HVAC/maintenance focus with AOS education preferred.
• Military training in related field acceptable.
• Journeyman steamfitter certification preferred.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Job Description

DUTIES & RESPONSILIBITIES

• Installs & repairs pipes, fixtures, and valves, for water, gas, steam, and air systems.
• Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation on generator units.
• Assembles fittings and valves for installation.
• Modifies length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed.
• Uses saws and pipe cutters as necessary.
• Installs heating and air-conditioning systems, including water heaters.
• Collaborates with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing systems.
• Performs inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts.
• Tests plumbing systems for leaks and other problems.
• Analyses problem and identifies appropriate tools and materials for repair.
• Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes.
• Work at heights in scissor lifts and boom lifts
• Operate fork trucks for material movement and unloading of deliveries
• Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies
• Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• AAS degree in Mechanical or Plant Utilities Technology
• AOS degree in HVAC or Construction & Maintenance
• Military Training Course in related field
• Journeyman Steamfitter

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS

• 3 years’ work experience in a Manufacturing Facility (with references)
• 3 years proven experience in Commercial HVAC service and installation.
• Pipe Welding certifications
• Licensed Plumber in NYS
• 5+ Years in a manufacturing facility
• Experience with underground piping
• Backflow preventer certification
• EPA Refrigerant certification

The hourly base pay range for this position is $34.68 to $42.89. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for contractually negotiated general wage increases and COLA increases.

The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
