Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking an experienced pipefitter to layout, install, fabricate and repair mechanical utility piping systems, including hot water, chilled water, steam and compressed air in a large facility. Responsibilities include reading system schematics, moving in confined spaces and working from ladders, scaffolding and lifts.

The role requires understanding of local codes, collaboration with contractors, and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• AAS degree in Mechanical or Plant Utilities Technology required.
• AOS degree in HVAC or Construction & Maintenance required.
• Military Training Course in related field preferred.
• Journeyman Steamfitter certification strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Installs & repairs pipes, fixtures, and valves for water, gas, steam, and air systems.
• Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation on generator units.
• Assembles fittings and valves for installation.
• Modifies length of pipes and fixtures as needed.
• Uses saws and pipe cutters as necessary.
• Installs heating and air-conditioning systems, including water heaters.
• Collaborates with contractors and tradespeople in installing plumbing systems.
• Performs inspections and tests for leaks and worn parts.
• Ensures health and safety standards and building codes are followed.
• Work at heights in scissor lifts and boom lifts.
• Operate forklifts for material movement and unloading.

DUTIES & RESPONSILIBITIES

• Installs & repairs pipes, fixtures, and valves, for water, gas, steam, and air systems.


• Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation on generator units.


• Assembles fittings and valves for installation.


• Modifies length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed.


• Uses saws and pipe cutters as necessary.


• Installs heating and air-conditioning systems, including water heaters.


• Collaborates with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing systems.


• Performs inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts.


• Tests plumbing systems for leaks and other problems.


• Analyses problem and identifies appropriate tools and materials for repair.


• Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes.


• Work at heights in scissor lifts and boom lifts


• Operate fork trucks for material movement and unloading of deliveries


• Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies


• Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices


• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• AAS degree in Mechanical or Plant Utilities Technology


• AOS degree in HVAC or Construction & Maintenance


• Military Training Course in related field


• Journeyman Steamfitter

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS

• 3 years' work experience in a Manufacturing Facility (with references)


• 3 years proven experience in Commercial HVAC service and installation.


• Pipe Welding certifications


• Licensed Plumber in NYS


• 5+ Years in a manufacturing facility


• Experience with underground piping


• Backflow preventer certification


• EPA Refrigerant certification

The hourly base pay range for this position is $34.68 to $42.89. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for contractually negotiated general wage increases and COLA increases.

The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
