Job summary

DMC Harper University Hospital in Detroit is seeking a skilled Plant Ops/Facilities technician to maintain heating, plumbing, water, gas and drainage systems. You will inspect, repair and install components, support hospital operations, and ensure reliability of essential infrastructure.

Requirements include a high school diploma, 2–6 years of relevant experience, and a state licensed plumber license or equivalent Michigan license. Day shift, full-time position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two to six years progressively more responsible experience is required.
• City of Detroit plumbing license, or Master's license as plumber in the State of Michigan, or Michigan State Journeyman Plumber's license necessary.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, installs, repairs and replaces pipes, fittings and plumbing fixtures to maintain hospital heating, water, gas and drainage systems.
• Installs new plumbing components; plans installation by studying blueprints and work sketches.
• Performs related maintenance tasks and supports inventory management.
• May assist other maintenance personnel with repair and service tasks.

Job Summary

Under general direction, inspects, installs, repairs and replaces pipes, fittings and plumbing fixtures to maintain the heating, water, gas and drainage systems of the hospital. Installs new plumbing system components, faucets, sinks, toilets, valves, etc.; plans installation by studying blueprints and work sketches.

Performs other related tasks to the maintenance, service, repair, testing, inspection and installation of plumbing/piping systems and components; maintenance of inventory parts and supplies.

May provide assistance to other maintenance personnel in performing repair and service functions.
