Job summary

State of Florida is seeking a Plumber for the Okeechobee Correctional Institution in the Maintenance Department. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and experience in plumbing; training can substitute for some experience.

The incumbent will report to the FDC office in the area served and will be responsible for preventive maintenance and repairs of plumbing systems. This position offers comprehensive benefits and requires background screening per Department guidelines.

• Installs, maintains, and repairs plumbing fixtures such as valves, faucets, traps, sinks, sewer lines, vents, and sanitary fixtures.
• Conducts tests, maintains logs, and keeps records for equipment as per Department guidelines.
• Repairs, replaces, and checks high and low pressure steam boilers, safety devices, and controls, and cleans boilers, tanks, and water heaters.
• Reads blueprints, plans and organizes work, prepares reports, supervises inmates, participates in departmental training, and performs other related duties as required.

The mission of Facilities Management and Building Construction at the Florida Department of Corrections is to provide a safe, secure, and efficient environment for staff, inmates, and visitors. This is achieved through the effective management, maintenance, and construction of correctional facilities, ensuring they meet all regulatory standards and support the department's overall mission of public safety and rehabilitation.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

REQUIREMENTS:
