Position: 12 months, 8 hours
Status: Non-Exempt

Starting Pay: $23.27 and up (depending on experience)

Essential Job Functions

Under the direction of the Plumber Crew Chief, this position is responsible for performing duties related to light new construction, routine and preventive interior and exterior plumbing maintenance throughout the district’s 33 buildings and grounds areas. The role may also include other work-related duties as requested by the Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Manager, or senior management staff; occasional weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old and a high school graduate.
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ progressive experience in facilities, maintenance, and/or plumbing fields.
• Must be self-motivated and able to work overtime if needed.
• Must possess and maintain a minimum Missouri Class E driver’s license or equivalent, with an excellent driving record.
• Able to prioritize duties and meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to relate effectively with a diverse student population, staff, administration, contractors, and suppliers.
• Proficient in the use of mechanical hand tools, sewer cleaning equipment, power tools, and plumbing equipment.
• Must be proficient in soldering and brazing.
• Able to read, interpret, and understand construction documents, including shop drawings, wiring diagrams, blueprints, technical specifications, and contracts.
• Capable of moving safely around all district buildings, working at heights over 20 feet, and on rooftops.
• Able to lift and relocate items weighing up to 70 pounds regularly.
• Effective in verbal and written communication in English for job duties and safety emergencies.
• Must pass a thorough background investigation.
