Job summary

Shapiro & Duncan is seeking skilled plumbers for field installation of plumbing and HVAC systems with emphasis on safety, quality, and teamwork. The role requires five to six years of relevant experience, ability to read drawings, and a valid driver’s license for occasional site visits.

Responsibilities include pipe fabrication, installation, and adaptation to project needs while maintaining high performance and reliability on job sites in the DC/MD/VA area.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–6 years of experience in Plumbing and HVAC piping.
• Must be able to read and understand drawings (to include fabrication).
• Interact effectively with teammates and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Communicate effectively in English (aural, verbal, and written).
• Possess current, valid driver’s license for occasional jobsite visits.

Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, thread, or bend pipe to required angle using hand or power tools.
• Locate and mark positions of pipe installations and fixtures.
• Assemble pipe sections and fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, or soldering.
• Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, fixtures using hand or power tools.
• Cut openings to accommodate pipes and connect underground piping systems.

JOB SUMMARY: Install Plumbing and HVAC systems in field locations with an emphasis on safety, quality, productivity, training, and teamwork.

REPORS TO: Supervisor/Leadman/Foreman on site.

JOBREQUIREMENTS:

• Able to work Monday-Friday with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Must be able to be flexible with work schedule.
• Possess current, valid driver’s license (not under suspension or limitation) for occasional jobsite visits.
• Reliable Transportation – go to sites in Metro DC as assigned/needed.
• Minimum 5-6 years of experience in Plumbing and HVAC piping.
• Must be able to read and understand drawings (to include fabrication)
• Interact effectively with team mates and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Communicate effectively in English (aural, verbal, and written).
• Able to lift five to fifty pounds (5-75lbs), with or without assistance, frequently.
• Able to sit, stand, bend, walk, climb, and remain in static positions for duration of shift.
• Able to withstand exposure to heights, tight/confined spaces; work in dusty areas; work in temperature extremes; be exposed to external elements (wind, rain, etc.)
• Able to withstand exposure to dust, fumes, heights.
• Able to handle, protect and maintain the confidentiality of information.
• Possess strong desire, willingness and ability to learn new tasks.

JOB RESPONSABILITIES:

• Measure, cut, thread, or bend pipe to required angle, using hand or power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, or pipe-bending machines.
• Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, or fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers or levels.
• Assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, and brazing.
• Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, fixtures using hand or power tools.
• Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes or pipe fittings, using hand or power tools.
• Install underground storm, sanitary, or water piping systems, extending piping as needed to connect fixtures and plumbing.
• Complete all tasks in a timely matter.
• Perform miscellaneous tasks as directed.
