Position

Plumber Level II – Facilities Department (Full‑time, Hourly, Non‑exempt)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plumbing systems at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.
  • Diagnose and correct facility and building plumbing systems across all facilities.
  • Provide preventative and corrective maintenance, repair, and installation of new equipment as needed.
  • Provide necessary information for purchasing preventative and corrective maintenance equipment and systems.
  • Respond to routine and emergency calls, performing necessary repairs.
  • Research, develop, and recommend maintenance and capital improvement for equipment and systems.
  • Monitor system efficiencies and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Assist in daily oversight of appropriate contractors.
  • Provide event‑related maintenance, services, and support.
  • Review, perform, and maintain regular department work orders and equipment using CMMS (Legends Global Maintenance).
  • Conduct regular inspections of workspaces to ensure proper housekeeping, safety, and compliance.
Qualifications
  • Overall understanding and experience in facility management, with event industry experience preferred.
  • Attention to detail; ability to work independently with little supervision; strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changes; manage competing demands and unexpected events.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and results‑driven.
  • Excellent customer service skills; frequent interaction with customers, vendors, and visitors.
  • Valid driver’s license and meet City’s driving requirements for City equipment.
  • Current OSHA Forklift and Personnel Lift Certification.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Three years’ experience in maintenance of building and equipment systems in industrial or commercial setting.
Physical Demands
  • Move around the facility; stand for long hours during events; talk and hear.
  • Work inside or outside building as needed by events.
  • Move quickly from one area to another; perform manual labor including lifting/heaving at least 50 lbs.
  • Use manual tools; reach with hands and arms.
  • Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, stooping, or sitting; walking on ice; climbing ladders over 10 ft; scaffolding, catwalks, lifts, heights >50 ft.
  • Clear hearing of voices, alarms, bells, horns (≥85 dB); speak clearly and audibly.
  • Understand and follow simple directions (oral, written).
  • Read basic written correspondence, plans, diagrams or gauges.
  • Use common hand tools; visually inspect; distinguish colors.
  • Operate equipment such as light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, turf mowers, scrubbers, sweepers, other light power‑driven equipment.
Working Environment and Conditions
  • Exposure to extreme noise (>85 dBA), electrical shock, falls, cuts, bruises, strains, burns.
  • Use protective equipment as needed for specific tasks.
  • Respond to routine, precautionary, and emergency alarms from building automation and life safety systems.
  • Follow all safety precautions and procedures.
  • Weather: dirty, hot, cold, wet, slippery, chemicals, fumes, confined areas, ditches, or other uncomfortable places.
Hours of Work and Travel Requirements

Must be able to work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Regular travel between building properties required.
