UPMC Mercy is hiring a Full-Time Plumber to support our facility!

This position will work during the evenings from 2pm-10pm.

Purpose:

To perform all work related to plumbing within the hospital.

Responsibilities:
  • Install, repair, and maintain various plumbing systems campus-wide, including potable water fixtures, hot water systems, cold and hot water lines, and waste lines.
  • Connect water systems using flanges, Victaulic fittings, solder, pro-press, uponor tools, and other accepted practices.
  • Troubleshoot leaks and cross connections; research and map valve locations for repairs.
  • Diagnose and rebuild backflow preventers.
  • Repair, install, and maintain drain lines, and operate equipment like augers and snakes to clear obstructions.
  • Service and repair grease traps.
  • Familiarity with fire sprinkler systems, eyewash systems, and medical gas outlets throughout the campus.
  • Follow hospital protocols and build containment for construction work as per UPMC standards.
  • Estimate material needs, prepare requisitions, and complete reports and work orders.
  • Operate power tools and equipment, and perform maintenance at heights using ladders, scaffolds, or lifts.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, journeyman level experience in plumbing, and the ability to handle physical tasks and work in confined spaces. Licenses such as a County Plumbing license, Stationary Engineer license, Medical Gas license, and Backflow certification are preferred.

Must be able to work flexible shifts, carry a work phone, and move throughout various hospital areas.
