Shapiro & Duncan, Inc. is seeking an apprentice in the Plumbing trade to learn through classroom instruction and on-the-job training. You will work under Master/Journey worker to assemble and complete plumbing systems while gaining hands-on experience on DC, VA, and MD sites.

The program emphasizes learning plumbing codes, reading blueprints, pipe fabrication, soldering, and safe work practices. No prior experience required beyond 0–1 years; transportation and background checks are required.

Responsabilidades

• Attend apprentice classes in trade and maintain OJT logs.
• Work under supervision to assemble/complete work.
• Learn plumbing code and how to read blueprints for installing plumbing systems.
• Cut and thread pipes up to 2"; sweat and solder; tack-weld steel.
• Learn plumbing techniques, specifications, and mechanics.
• Maintain professional appearance and attitude; perform arithmetic as needed.
• Other duties requested by Supervisor.

JOB SUMMARY

Through classroom and on-the-job training (OJT), learns and applies fundamentals of Plumbingtrade.

REQUIREMENTS

• Able to work Monday-Friday with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Must be flexible with schedule.
• Reliable transportation- go to sites in DC, VA, and MD.
• Must be a U.S. citizen to meet customer security requirements and obtain access to designated job sites.
• 0-1 years of prior experience as a laborer, skilled laborer, helper, or in another related trade.
• Satisfactory background check and initial/random drug tests.
• Dependable and reliable.
• Works well with team, including other trades.
• Inquisitive: wants to learn; asks questions.
• Communicates effectively in English.
• Able to lift five to fifty pounds (5-50lbs), with or without assistance, frequently.
• Able to sit, stand, bend, walk, climb, and remain in static positions for duration of shift.
• Able to withstand exposure to heights, tight/confined spaces; work in dusty areas; work in temperature extremes; be exposed to external elements (wind, rain, snow, etc).

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Attend apprentice classes in trade and maintains OJT logs.
• Work under immediate supervision of Master/Journey worker, Leadman, or Foreman to assemble/complete work.
• Learn appropriate Plumbingcode.
• Learn how to read blue prints, and uses to install Plumbingsystems.
• Assemble work laid out by Journey/Master worker.
• Learn how to cut and thread up to 2" pipe; sweat and solder pipe; tack-weld steel pipe; cut steel pipe with torch.
• Learn plumbingtechniques.
• Learn about specifications.
• Learn the mechanics and principles of Plumbing.
• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
• Perform arithmetic calculations (add/subtract/multiply/divide, including fractions and decimals)
• Any other duties requested by Supervisor.
