Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is seeking a Plumber 1 at Fort Indiantown Gap to perform plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance in a critical facility.

You will work 37.5 hours per week, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with no telework option. A valid driver's license and NCIC screening are required; PA DEP Class E certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing components and fixtures.
• Active motor vehicle license.
• Must pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
• Possession of PA DEP Class E (Water) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair faucets, showers, sinks, toilets, and flush controls.
• Cut, ream, thread, bend, weld, clean, and solder pipes as required.
• Prepare material lists and document completed work and used supplies.
• Follow plumbing trade precautions, maintain a clean workspace, and report hazards.
• Clean, adjust, and perform preventive upkeep on tools and equipment.
• Follow DMVA safety rules and ensure unused materials are stored properly.

This position focuses on maintaining plumbing systems, installing fixtures, and ensuring safe working conditions throughout Fort Indiantown Gap. As a Plumber 1, you will perform the following duties:

• Fixture Work: Install and repair faucets, showers, sinks, commodes, and flush controls
• Pipe Tasks: Cut, ream, thread, bend, weld, clean, and solder pipes as required
• Material Preparation: Prepare material lists and document completed work and used supplies
• Safety Practices: Follow plumbing trade precautions, maintain a clean workspace, and report hazards
• Tool Maintenance: Clean, adjust, and perform preventive upkeep on tools and equipment
• Site Compliance: Follow DMVA safety rules and ensure unused materials are returned to proper storage

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Three years of experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing components and fixtures; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

• This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Additional Requirements:

• You must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

• Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Class E (Water) Certification
• Completion of formal training in the plumbing trade
• Previous experience as a plumber
• Previous experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of water main breaks, and the sanitizing of water mains due to main breaks
• Previous experience in the maintenance, repair, or replacement of underground water mains or sewage lines
• Previous experience in the installation or connection of service lines to water or sewage mains
• Previous experience working in hazardous conditions such as confined space, electrical currents, or chemical exposure
