Job summary

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) seeks a Maintenance Repairman 2 to keep Fort Indiantown Gap facilities, equipment, and grounds in safe, efficient condition. You will perform carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, and grounds tasks across multiple trades.

This full-time role runs 37.5 hours weekly, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Telework is not available; a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License and safety compliance are required.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title).
• Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, involving at least two trades (building, electrical, or mechanical).
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Carpentry: Install ceilings, walls, flooring, fixtures; repair building structures.
• Plumbing: Repair sinks, faucets, pipes, drains, fixtures.
• Painting: Prepare surfaces, mix paint, and complete interior/exterior painting.
• Electrical: Replace switches, receptacles, ballasts, wiring as needed.
• Grounds maintenance: Cut grass, remove snow, trim shrubs, clean outside areas.
• Tool upkeep: Maintain tools and equipment through cleaning, adjusting, preventive care.

As a Maintenance Repairman 2 with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), you will use your skills across many trades to support facility operations. This position gives you the chance to tackle meaningful tasks that improve safety and efficiency. Your work will help ensure that Fort Indiantown Gap remains well maintained and ready for daily use.

This position focuses on performing building repairs, maintaining equipment, and supporting safe working conditions throughout Fort Indiantown Gap. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

• Carpentry Work: Install ceilings, walls, flooring, and fixtures, and repair damage to building structures
• Plumbing Tasks: Repair sinks, faucets, pipes, drains, and fixtures in various areas
• Painting Duties: Prepare surfaces, mix paint, and complete interior and exterior painting
• Electrical Repairs: Replace switches, receptacles, ballasts, and wiring as needed
• Grounds Maintenance: Cut grass, remove snow, trim shrubs, and keep outside areas clean
• Tool Upkeep: Maintain tools and equipment through cleaning, adjusting, and preventive care

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:

• You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

• You must maintain favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

• Any formal training (high school vocational program, apprenticeship, or post-high school technical training program) in a skilled building, electrical, or mechanical trade
• Experience in commercial maintenance of buildings and equipment
• Experience in commercial carpentry
• Experience in the plumbing trade
• Experience working in the electrical trade field
• Experience in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration or HVAC systems
• Experience with 3-phase wiring, including emergency generators, automatic transfer switches, switchgear, and 3-phase panels
• Experience with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aquastats, and instantaneous water heaters
• Experience with the provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC), as they relate to repair of buildings
• Structural experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings
