Summary

The plumber is responsible for assigned installs and repairs involving pipes and fittings of water supply, sanitation, and heating systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and drawings to understand or plan the layout of plumbing, waste disposal and water supply systems
• Cut, assemble and install pipes and tubes with attention to existing infrastructure (e.g. electrical wiring)
• Install and maintain water supply systems
• Locate and repair issues with water supply lines (e.g. leaks)
• Repair domestic appliances (e.g. washing machines) and fixtures (e.g. sinks) etc.
• Install and maintain gas and liquid heating systems (air-conditioning units, radiators etc.)
• Install waste disposal and sanitary systems with well-functioning DWV systems

Responsibilities & Requirements Include

• Conduct comprehensive plumbing services, including installations, repairs, and maintenance of fixtures such as sinks, toilets, faucets, water heaters, and garbage disposals.
• Diagnose complex plumbing issues using specialized equipment and provide detailed explanations to customers.
• Repair or replace water and drain lines, clear drain stoppages, and mend burst pipes.
• Perform whole house re-piping and underground excavation and repairs when necessary.
• Follow all plumbing codes and regulations to ensure work is completed safely and to the highest standards.
• Provide exceptional customer service, maintain a professional and courteous demeanor, and educate clients on plumbing system upkeep.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of all work performed.Keep company vehicles clean, organized, and properly stocked with inventory.

Qualifications

The Plumber will also have the following:

• Proven experience as a service plumber in residential, and light commercial settings.
• Extensive knowledge of local and national plumbing codes.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions.
• Completion of a background check and drug screening upon hiring
• Solid understanding of water distribution and disposal systems in residential, commercial and industrial buildings
• Working knowledge of heating and ventilation systems as well as appliances
• Ability to handle plumbing tools and equipment (pipe wrenches, pipe cutters, plungers etc.)
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Friendly with a great deal of patience
• Good physical condition and strength with the ability to work in awkward spaces
• Diploma from a trade school or successful completion of apprenticeship

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical Demands

• Climbing up and down on ladders and equipment
• Heavy lifting required (50-75) pounds, ladder work and tight space work required from time to time.
• Ability to pick-up a minimum of 25 pounds consistently and carry up to 250 feet unassisted.
• Operate handheld power tools.
• Wear personal protective equipment.
• Ability to work more than 40 hours per work week and up to 12 hours per day, as needed.
• Employees may be exposed to noise, dust, and fumes, and they may work in cramped, awkward positions. They may work outdoors in all weather conditions and may be required to climb ladders or work on a roof.
