Job summary

ReNEW Schools in Idaho seeks a skilled Plumber to support maintenance across its facilities. The role involves repairing and installing plumbing systems, maintaining water heaters, sewer and drainage lines, and responding to emergencies to keep buildings safe and functional.

You will work with the Facilities team, read blueprints and work orders, and be on-call for emergencies. A HS diploma or GED and 3–5 years' related experience are preferred, with licensure preferred.

SUMMARY

To ensure and support the timely completion of all maintenance projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in the repair and/or installation of various items, systems and/or components as may be required for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition; which involves work as a Plumber at any building or structure.
  • Assist other maintenance personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities when approved by the Manager.
  • Assist with the moving and set up of any chairs, tables, and stages as needed for school programs throughout the year.
  • Make installations of general plumbing systems and repairs to existing systems.
  • Repair, install, and maintain hot water heaters, and other equipment.
  • Install, repair, or replace sewer mains, water supply pipes, waste pipes, sewage pipes, drainage pipes, valves, gaskets, and tubing.
  • Install system component parts, classroom and office equipment and facility components as may be required for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a safe, comfortable, and operating condition.
  • Maintain tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment, in safe operating condition and to guard against breakage, theft, or loss.
  • Maintain materials and inventory required for projects.
  • Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Work from verbal instructions, blueprints, sketches, and work orders.
  • Operate all maintenance equipment in a safe and lawful manner.
  • Repairs water supply, waste, sewage, and drainage pipes.
  • Work within and around the schedules of others to maintain productivity.
  • Be on-call and available for maintenance emergencies.
  • Ensure that all federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy pertaining to plant maintenance and operation, fire, safety, and the environment are followed.
  • Comply with all federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy pertaining to the storage and disposal of recyclables, trash, waste, and debris.
  • Estimate the cost of repair projects in terms of labor, material, and overhead.
  • Assist with the set-up and coordination of school and public use of facilities.
  • Assume responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development through such efforts as attendance at in‑services.
  • Keep immediate supervisor informed of activities and any issues that may arise.
  • Represent the school district in a positive manner.
  • Know and follow school district policy and chain of command.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Three to five years of related experience required.
  • Appropriate licensure preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Hold a current and valid Idaho Motor Vehicle License with an excellent driving record.
  • Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes and regulations.
  • Ability to perform long periods of standing; walking; climbing; bending; stooping; kneeling; bending and twisting at the neck and trunk; moving of furniture; pushing/pulling items such as tables, bleachers, and scrubbing machines; frequent lifting of objects weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally moving objects weighing up to ninety pounds; and climbing ladders.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, to reach above the head and reach forward, to grasp tools.

Demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns.

Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary; organize job functions and work area to be able to effectively complete varied assignments within established time frame.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to conduct basic math functions.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing (Microsoft Office) and spreadsheets (Excel).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit; walk and stand and reach with hands and arms; regularly lift and carry 60 pounds and occasionally lift and carry up to 90 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision; very good depth perception; and the ability to communicate through speech.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works outside and occasionally meets deadlines with severe time constraints.

SALARY

According to the Maintenance salary schedule.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

256 day calendar assignment.
