Job description

General Summary

The Plumber is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of all Bayhealth plumbing systems and fixtures.

Department team members are authorized to have limited access to secured medication rooms to perform duties and responsibilities as defined in this job description. Any staff member requiring limited access to secured medication rooms must have a fully completed and signed Medication Security Agreement for Non‑Licensed Personnel form on file and available upon request.

Location: Kent Campus Hospital

Status and Compensation

Status: Full Time 80 Hours

Shift: Days

Salary Range: $26.35 - $39.52 Hourly

Responsibilities
  • Ensure reliability of all building plumbing systems, including patient room plumbing and building fire protection systems. Evaluate and take the necessary corrective action to repair or replace any plumbing system that is vital to the operation of the facility, minimizing equipment failures that create unplanned work requests.
  • Performs or schedules required maintenance on water supply and drainage systems to ensure proper hygiene and operation is maintained. Installs all pipe work and plumbing fixtures in accordance with local, state and national codes.
  • Ensure reliability of all building roof drains to maintain expected length of life of building roofing systems.
  • Maintain appropriate library of drawings and manuals pertaining to the flow distribution and operation of plumbing fixtures and devices to include location of shut off valves.
  • Ensure critical spare parts inventories are maintained to minimize the length of systems downtime during unplanned failures.
  • Ensure safe work practices by performing daily tasks as safely as possible, wearing proper PPE and performing lockout/tagout where required.
  • Maintain safe exterior walking surfaces by assisting with snow removal.
  • All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities to include snow/ice removal.
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Credential(s): Driver License, Driving Record Required
  • Experience: Required: Two years plumbing journeyman training and related work experience. Preferred: Four years working experience in the plumbing trade with ability to read blueprints. Previous experience in estimating time and material costs to start and complete construction projects.
