Job summary

Carlsbad Municipal Schools is seeking a qualified plumber to maintain and repair district facilities. The role requires a journeyman license and at least three years of documented plumbing experience.

  • Demonstrate competent skills as a plumber.
  • Able to lift 60 pounds to 75 pounds regularly.
  • Valid New Mexico Driver's License for vehicles of size required.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, follow and properly execute written instructions on work and/or Material Safety Data Labels.
  • Computer literate in word processing and spreadsheet applications as well as an ability to maintain static inventory records.

Responsibilities

  • Work cooperatively with and communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and administrators.
  • Follow district policies and administrative and legal laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintain behavior appropriate to performing and accomplishing assigned duties.
  • Know what to do to successfully complete assigned work.
  • Project an over-all concern for personal appearance as it relates to job performance.
  • Advise, coordinate, and help prioritize plumbing jobs within the district.
  • Take primary responsibility for quality and completion of jobs assigned.
  • Assume responsibilities of Head Plumbing position when required.
  • Be available to perform other general maintenance duties as work time permits and need requires.
  • Assume responsibility for the safe condition of pipes, drains, and plumbing fixtures in the facilities owned or operated by the district.
  • Maintain outdoor sprinklers, waste disposal systems, radiators and similar plumbing related installations.
  • Read and follow written instructions.
  • Plan and execute work efficiently and within a range of safety to protect self and fellow workers.
  • Account for and maintain supplies, materials and equipment.
  • Examine district owned facilities on a regular basis for purposes of preventive maintenance.
