Carlsbad Municipal Schools is seeking a qualified plumber to maintain and repair district facilities. The role requires a journeyman license and at least three years of documented plumbing experience.
You will lift heavy objects, read instructions, and maintain inventory records while ensuring safe, compliant operations across campuses. Responsibilities include prioritizing plumbing work, supervising tasks as needed, and performing general maintenance when time permits.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Three years documented experience as a plumber.
2. Journeyman Plumber license issued through New Mexico C.I.D.
3. Demonstrate competent skills as a plumber.
4. Able to lift 60 pounds to 75 pounds regularly.
5. Valid New Mexico Driver's License for vehicles of size required.
6. High School Diploma or G.E.D.
7. Ability to read, comprehend, follow and properly execute written instructions on work and/or Material Safety Data Labels.
8. Computer literate in word processing and spreadsheet applications as well as an ability to maintain static inventory records.
SUPERVISOR: Supervisor of Custodial/Maintenance and Head Journeyman Plumber
JOB GOAL: To help maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence in order to provide the best educational environment for students of this district.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
4. Follow district policies and administrative and legal laws, rules, and regulations.
5. Maintain behavior appropriate to performing and accomplishing assigned duties.
6. Know what to do to successfully complete assigned work.
7. Project an over-all concern for personal appearance as it relates to job performance.
8. Advise, coordinate, and help prioritize plumbing jobs within the district.
9. Take primary responsibility for quality and completion of jobs assigned.
10. Assume responsibilities of Head Plumbing position when required.
11. Be available to perform other general maintenance duties as work time permits and need requires.
12. Assume responsibility for the safe condition of pipes, drains, and plumbing fixtures in the facilities owned or operated by the district.
13. Maintain outdoor sprinklers, waste disposal systems, radiators and similar plumbing related installations.
14. Read and follow written instructions.
15. Plan and execute work efficiently and within a range of safety to protect self and fellow workers.
16. Account for and maintain supplies, materials and equipment.
17. Examine district owned facilities on a regular basis for purposes of preventive maintenance.
