Job summary

CVG Airport Authority is seeking an experienced plumber to install, maintain, and repair airport plumbing systems across terminals and facilities. The role includes on-call responsibilities, water mains, hydrants, meters, and coordination with contractors to uphold aviation standards.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of plumbing experience, Kentucky Journeyman license, SIDA clearance, and the ability to operate on airfield ramps. A valid CDL and driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years plumbing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Driver's License; Commercial Driver's License - Class A or B (or ability to acquire Class B within 6 months)
  • Kentucky Journeyman License
  • Cross Connection and Control Testers license
  • Security Identification Display Area Clearance (SIDA)

Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains and repairs plumbing fixtures in restrooms, water lines, sewer lines and water fountains
  • Ensures compliance with current plumbing codes
  • Performs servicing and testing of plumbing equipment
  • Checks and repairs faucets and restrooms
  • Performs water main and fire hydrant repair
  • Performs water meter reading and repair
  • Completes work orders and records time/material used
  • On-call duties as required
  • Assist contractors to meet airport standards and improvements to facilities equipment

Job description

CLASS SUMMARY

Responsible for skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of airport plumbing systems that provide clean water and control the disposal of human waste. Other duties may include operating heavy equipment, data entry, facilities on-call responsibilities, as well as supporting other needs of the Airport as assigned. This position assists with snow removal operations on varying shifts, based on operational needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Installs, maintains and repairs plumbing fixtures in restrooms, water lines, sewer lines and water fountains
  • Ensures the airport is in compliance with current plumbing codes
  • Performs servicing and testing of plumbing equipment
  • Checks and repairs faucets and the working order of restrooms and plumbing fixtures
  • Performs water main and fire hydrant repair
  • Performs water meter reading and repair
  • Complete work orders and record time/material utilized
  • Performs on-call duties, specific position assignments will vary based on department needs
  • Assist with contractors to meet Airport standards and developing improvements to facilities equipment.

Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education: HSD/GED
Minimum Years of Direct Experience: 5 years plumbing experience, or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS

Required

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Commercial Driver's License - Class A or B (or the ability to acquire a Class B within 6 months of the hire date)
  • Kentucky Journeyman License
  • Cross Connection and Control Testers license
  • Security Identification Display Area Clearance (SIDA)

Additional Security Levels Required (Customs or Police Department) - Yes

Airfield Driving
This position requires driving on the airfield and airfield ramps.

DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE OF
  • Installing, repairing, and maintaining commercial-grade plumbing systems, including high-capacity water lines, sewage systems, and pumps.
  • Troubleshooting issues with water, steam, and gas piping systems commonly found in large-scale facilities.
  • Familiarity with building codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards, especially those unique to airports.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Proficiency in maintaining plumbing infrastructure to prevent system failures and ensure reliability.
  • Blueprint and Plan Interpretation: Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and plumbing system diagrams.
  • Communication and Coordination: Effective communication to coordinate with other trades, document work, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, high-security environment.
  • Kentucky State Plumbing Code.
  • Testing and repair of cross connection devises.
  • Wide variety of hand and power tools.
  • Test and repair of water meters.
  • OSHA Standards, Airfield and FAA Regulations.
DEMONSTRATED SKILL IN
  • Use of a variety of computer-based technologies including word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups.
