Job summary

CBRE Government and Defense Services is seeking a Plumber to install, troubleshoot, service and repair plumbing systems at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis. The role supports midshipmen, staff, faculty and sailors with high responsiveness and quality facility services.

Responsibilities include inspections, repairs, preventative maintenance, emergency responses, and documenting work orders. Requires GED or high school graduate, Journeyman/Master licensed, WSSC cert, with medical gas

Qualifications

  • GED or High School Graduate required.
  • Journeyman/Master’s License in Plumbing Certification required.
  • WSSC Certification required.
  • Medical Gas Certification 6040 preferred.
  • Backflow Certification preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a local background check and obtain/maintain security clearance after hire.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections of plumbing systems as required.
  • Solid understanding of water distribution and disposal systems in residential, commercial and industrial settings.
  • Coordinate, troubleshoot, repair, inspect and maintain plumbing equipment (faucets, lavatories, toilets, valves, water heaters, boilers, etc).
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs.
  • Respond to emergency plumbing calls including clogged drains and broken water lines.
  • Complete miscellaneous plumbing repairs and replacements (sinks, water coolers, toilets).
  • Work on pipe systems for water, heating, drainage per specs and codes.
  • Perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Communicate with customers regarding work request status and coordination.
  • Complete written work request notes and document work performed on trouble tickets.

Job Summary:

The Plumber will install, troubleshoot, service and repair plumbing systems in office buildings and other commercial establishments as assigned. This position is located at the United States Naval Academy. Our mission is to provide highly responsive and quality facility support to the midshipmen, staff, faculty and sailors located in Annapolis at USNA and Naval Support Annapolis. Primary Job Functions:
  • Conduct inspections of plumbing systems as required

  • Solid understanding of water distribution and disposal systems in residential, commercial and industrial

  • Coordinate, troubleshoot, repair, inspect and maintain plumbing equipment including, but not limited to, faucets, lavatories, toilets, flush valves, sinks, water heaters, drinking fountains, domestic water heaters and boilers, garbage disposals, backflow devices, valves and water meters.

  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs.

  • Respond to emergency plumbing calls such as clogged drains, broken water lines, frozen

  • Completes miscellaneous plumbing repairs.

  • Repairs or replaces sinks, water coolers, and toilets.

  • Works on pipe systems for water, heating, and drainage, according to specifications and plumbing coders.

  • Performs general maintenance on equipment and machinery.

  • Communicate with customers regarding work request status and coordination.

  • Completes written Work Request notes reflecting details accomplished.

  • Accurately document work performed on trouble tickets or work orders

  • Ability to respond to emergency calls as needed, to include nights and weekends.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Certification:
Required: GED or High School Graduate
Required: Journeyman/ Master’s License in Plumbing Certification
Required: WSSC Certification
Preferred: Medical Gas Certification 6040
Preferred: Backflow Certification
Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions.

  • Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must be able to pass a local background check and have the ability to obtain and maintain security clearance after hire.

  • Experience working in an outdoor or indoor building environment

  • Knowledge of plumbing fixtures and ability to comprehend blueprints and drawings.

  • Able to understand verbal or written direction from lead, supervisor or other craftsmen
