Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking a PLSS Mechanical Engineer in Houston to advance the AxPLSS team. You will help develop, mature, and operate spaceflight hardware for EVA suits, guiding designs from concept through on-orbit demonstrations and servicing.

The role requires a BS in mechanical/aerospace engineering and 5+ years in life support or related fields, with strong knowledge of space environments and standards. Expect collaboration across teams and tight milestone schedules.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 5+ years’ experience in life support engineering.
• Knowledge of NASA or commercial space program standards.
• Experience with flight hardware development and certification.

Responsibilities

• Define and create space suit standards and practices.
• Generate CAD models, drawings, analyses, and procedures.
• Establish lifecycle management from supply chain to final integration.
• Validate designs by analysis or test.
• Lead design reviews with suppliers and customers.
• Support manufacturing and assembly of hardware and on-orbit operations.
• Communicate project progress to stakeholders and leadership.
