Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking an experienced Life Support Systems (LSS) Mechanical Engineer to support the AxPLSS team in developing and operating spaceflight hardware for EVA spacesuits. You will own design delivery across concept, design, fabrication, assembly, delivery, and on-orbit services in diverse mission environments.

You will work on defining standards, reviewing CAD models, and coordinating with suppliers while applying agile project practices to meet critical milestones and cost,

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years’ experience in life support engineering or similar role.
• Strong understanding of space environments and how they affect design decisions.
• Experience in defining and implementing engineering standards, processes, and practices.
• Hands-on experience building, testing, and/or assembling hardware.
• Familiarity with flight hardware development and certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and create space suit standards and practices.
• Generate/review CAD models, schematics, drawings, analyses, and procedures.
• Establish an efficient product lifecycle from supply chain through final integration.
• Validate designs by analysis or test and build development articles as needed.
• Lead design reviews with suppliers and customers.
• Support manufacturing and on-orbit operation of hardware.
