You will review lines for edible/inedible material, remove waste, and support line setup with trays, totes, and cleanliness routines.

This role requires physical stamina, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and adherence to PPE and GMP rules. Overtime and weekend work may be required to meet production needs.

Responsibilities

  • Review all production areas for edible or inedible materials from the production lines.
  • Remove inedible materials from the production lines to provide a clean and safe environment for production workers.
  • Set-up floor trays and garbage/cardboard totes before production begins and mark red/green trays.
  • Keep waste barrels in place on the line and empty spent waste.
  • Ensure PPE is worn, safety standards followed, and lines are cleaned after each run.

Job description

Position Summary: Cleans the waste material from the production areas.General Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties are outlined in the Specific Duties Section.Review all production areas for edible or inedible materials from the production lines. Remove inedible materials from the production lines to provide a clean and safe environment for production workers.Maintain adherence to company policies, safety standards, and good manufacturing practicesMust wear the required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as neededMust follow all plant food safety and person safety rules and proceduresWork with enthusiasm and sense of urgency.Perform tasks assigned by the supervisorThis position can be rotated to any of the production lines and any of the production workstations.Specific Duties & Responsibilities Production LinesSet-up floor trays and garbage/cardboard totes before production begins. The floor trays should be marked red.Green trays should be set up anywhere that product can be captured and reused.Make sure waste barrels are in place on the line.Put mats wherever people will be standing and over hoses, electrical cords and slippery areas.Clean up waste from the floors & empty inedible food trays.Start at the front of the line and work your way back to the end. Depending on the product being run, this should be done a minimum of ½ hour with extra care being given to the floor areas where people are required to stand.Empty larger red barrels using the Hercules in the waste room.Check case sealer, tri-sealer, box former and bagger areas for any cardboard & straps.Empty cardboard totes as needed.Change garbage throughout the production area.Check to make sure there are clean hand towels & fill the soap dispensers and footbath soap as needed.Must be available to sanitize the line as needed.Underneath the entire line and surrounding areas must be kept free of debris.A squeegee and dustpan are available to remove edible (potatoes and broccoli etc.) waste from floor.Edible waste is to be put into a red barrel. When the red barrel is three quarters full it is to be taken into production room 2, weighed and recorded and then dumped, using the auto dumper.Trays underneath the line that either have no bag or red bags are to be dumped into either the red barrels or into the stationary red dumpster.Products in a tray that has green plastic lining do not dump it is to be re-worked or saved as thrift.Packaging area has waste that is inedible (plastic and cardboard etc.) that is to be swept and or picked up and disposed of into gray garbage receptacles.As garbage receptacles get full remove bag and place in big bin marked garbage, replace bag in receptacle.Keeping the area around machines clear of debris so they can run freely.Check the ceiling for condensation and wipe dry with designated ceiling squeegee in accordance with procedure.Use ice melt on frozen areas of floor near spiral freezer.Waste report is to be filled out daily on paper and electronically.This role will require extended hours based on production needs, including work to be performed after regular business hours and on weekends.Education, prior work experience and specialized skills and knowledge:Ability to understand communications and communicate effectively. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.Physical environment/work conditions:The employee is regularly required to stand; use hands, fingers and arms to handle, fee and reach; climb or balance. The employee is frequently required work next to moving conveyor belts using dexterity and speed in the sorting & inspection process. The employee occasionally required stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally push or pull up to 200 or less pounds using barrels on wheels. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts and vibration. In addition, the employee is frequently exposed to cold conditions in the production areas and warm conditions in the baking area. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places.
