Job summary

Clarios is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for its Geneva, Illinois Dry Assembly Plant. Responsibilities include maintaining battery manufacturing equipment, supporting material handling, and validating production builds. The role requires PLC experience, PFMEA proficiency, and CAD/Allen-Bradley skills.

First shift with overtime as needed. You will collaborate across facilities to implement new processes, expand oxide/plate manufacturing tech, and ensure ERP data accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Manufacturing electrical experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of PLC experience.
  • Proficiency with Auto CAD, Allen Bradley Software, Excel, Word, Power Point and other related programs.
  • Proficiency in PFMEA and equipment SOW/ functional specs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain equipment and processes for battery manufacturing per standards.
  • Support movement, storage, and internal distribution of batteries.
  • Analyze processes with PFMEA and flow diagrams.
  • Collaborate with Program Management to deliver requirements.
  • Work with manufacturing facilities to implement new processes and equipment.
  • Execute design validation, prototype, and production validation builds.
  • Expand existing technologies to meet production needs.
  • Work with ERP to verify or modify BOMs, pallet patterns, and quantities.

Job description

What you will do:

With minimal direction, this position is responsible for Mechanical Engineering activities related to Automotive Battery manufacturing, preparation for shipment, and separation for distribution process.This will be first shift. Overtime as required.

How you will do it:
  • Maintains new equipment and processes for battery manufacturing in accordance with current engineering standards and quality requirements.
  • Maintains new equipment and processes for movement, storage, and internal distribution of batteries.
  • Analyze processes through Process flow diagrams and PFMEA development
  • Works within matrix organization to deliver requirements of Program Management system
  • Collaborates with manufacturing facilities to implement new processes and equipment.
  • Executes design validation builds, prototype builds, and production validation builds and testing.
  • Expand on existing technologies to address immediate production needs.
  • Specific technological work includes expanding and modifying Oxide production, plate manufacturing, battery assembly equipment, Battery formation systems, automatic or semi-automatic label application, robotic applications, material handling systems, and battery decoration equipment
  • Works within company ERP to verify or modify specific data such as decoration bill of materials, pallet patterns and quantities.
What we look for
Required
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Manufacturing electrical experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of PLC experience.
  • Proficiency with Auto CAD, Allen Bradley Software, Excel, Word, Power Point and other related programs.
  • Proficiency in PFMEA and equipment SOW/ functional specs.

Preferred
  • 3 years or more of experience in automotive Tier-1 is desired.
  • Experience in Battery oxide manufacturing, battery plate manufacturing equipment, labeling, palletizing, material handling, and MES systems is highlydesired.

Geneva, Illinois is home to a Dry Assembly Plant that manufactures batteries used in the automotive and marine industries. As a fully integrated plant, we also decorate our batteries into the final product for our customers. We have been in Geneva since 1960, and today we are one of the largest employers in town with 265 people. We operate six days per week. We are actively involved in our local community and give back through The Salvation Army.
