Job summary

Hydro Extrusions in Yankton, SD is seeking a Maintenance Technician to install, maintain and troubleshoot PLC-based automation systems. You will read schematics, wire PLC/HMI hardware, and support commissioning activities as part of a skilled team.

Ideal candidates bring PLC troubleshooting skills and basic ladder logic knowledge, plus familiarity with sensors, transmitters, and I/O configurations. A safety‑conscious, collaborative environment awaits in a global leader.

Qualifications

• 0–5 years experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment.
• Basic ladder logic troubleshooting and fault isolation.
• Knowledge of industrial sensors, transmitters, and control devices.
• Familiarity with digital and analog I/O configuration and verification.
• Knowledge of industrial communication networks and PLC-to-device communications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in installation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of PLCs and related automation equipment.
• Basic wiring, PLC, and HMI setup.
• Assist in wiring and installation of PLC hardware.
• Perform basic diagnostics and troubleshooting under supervision.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and PLC I/O diagrams.
• Support senior technicians in system testing and commissioning.
• Maintain documentation and logs of work performed.
• Configure, scale, and troubleshoot analog signals and instrumentation.
• Perform basic PLC program uploads, downloads, and online monitoring.
• Use multimeters and basic electrical testing equipment.

What you will be doing

Assist in the installation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and related automation equipment.

Basic wiring, PLC, and HMI setup.

Assist in wiring and installation of PLC hardware.

Perform basic diagnostics and troubleshooting under supervision.

What will make you successful?

Required Education/Experience:

• 0-5 years of experiencetroubleshooting and supporting PLC-controlled equipment.
• Basic understanding of ladder logic troubleshooting and fault isolation techniques.

Knowledge of industrial sensors, transmitters, and control devices.

Familiarity with digital and analog I/O configuration and verification.

Basic knowledge of industrial communication networks and PLC-to-device communications

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

• Experience using Allen-Bradley RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000 software or similar PLC programming platforms.

Understanding of industrial control panel components including relays, contactors, and terminal blocks

Ability to interpret PLC fault codes and assist in troubleshooting automation systems.
