Job summary

3M in Menomonie, WI seeks a PLC/Systems Technician to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair process equipment and control systems. You will read electrical drawings and PLC logic, work with engineers and crafts teams, and contribute to equipment improvements.

The role requires an associate degree in automation/controls or near completion, plus strong electrical controls maintenance experience and familiarity with Allen-Bradley systems. Travel up to 5% may be required.

Qualifications

Associate degree or higher in Automation Engineering Technology or Controls Engineering; or close to completion.
Five years of electrical controls systems maintenance experience preferred.
Experience with Allen-Bradley controls and drive technologies.
Experience with manufacturing/web processing equipment.
Experience with Windows-based computer systems.

Responsibilities

Diagnose, analyze, troubleshoot, service and repair process and facility equipment.
Troubleshoot and perform repair-type maintenance on PLCs, networks, drives and motors.
Interpret PLC logic, electrical drawings, vendor drawings and service manuals.
Collaborate with engineers, technicians or craft personnel during troubleshooting.
Provide technical recommendations for equipment and process improvements.
