Job summary

3M in Menomonie, WI is seeking a PLC/Systems Technician to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair process and facility equipment. You will work with engineers and technicians on PLCs, drives, and motion control systems, interpreting drawings and PLC logic.

The role requires an associate degree in automation engineering technology or controls, with several related qualifications beneficial. The position is on-site in Menomonie with up to 5% travel; starting pay ranges with local pay rules and benefits

Qualifications

Associate degree or higher in Automation Engineering Technology OR Controls Engineering is required or within 6 months of obtaining an associate degree.
Additional qualifications that could help include Electrical Controls Maintenance and 5 years of experience in electrical controls systems maintenance.
Experience with manufacturing technology on web processing equipment; knowledge of Allen-Bradley controls and drives; familiarity with Windows-based PCs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse audience.

Responsibilities

Diagnose, analyze, troubleshoot, service, and repair process and facility equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, controls networks, AC/DC drives and motors, servo drives and motion control systems, and pneumatic devices.
Read and interpret control drawings, PLC logic, blueprints, sketches, vendor drawings and service manuals.
Collaborate with engineers, technicians or craft people during troubleshooting, repair or modification.
Contribute technical recommendations for improvement or optimization of equipment and processes.
