Job summary

Amcor in Ames, Iowa is seeking an Automation Controls Technician to maintain instrumentation, control systems, and electronic communications in support of plant production, quality, GMP and safety goals. The ideal candidate will diagnose and repair electromechanical systems and drive improvements across all production lines.

You will troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and SCADA interfaces, assist with installations and upgrades, document system architectures, and collaborate with plant personnel to

Qualifications

• Maintains automation systems and control components.
• Proficient with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs; strong troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with SCADA systems, instrumentation, and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain automation systems and components.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs (Allen Bradley/Siemens).
• Assist in electrical installation and maintenance of equipment.
• Work with plant personnel in SCADA implementation and controls design.
• Develop and maintain documentation for system architecture and interfacing.
• Perform planning, scheduling, installation, monitoring, configuration, troubleshooting, repair, backup and upgrade for production environment.
• Support Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs and identify improvement opportunities.
• Assist with new equipment installations and system upgrades.
• Ensure safety compliance with lockout/tagout and Electrical Safety procedures.
• Adhere to safety protocols to prevent accidents and electrical hazards.
• Build and maintain vendor relationships.
